As the Scotland Aussie Rules Football League (SARFL) approaches the 2017 season finals next month, all four of the SARFL Premiership teams are battling to secure their spots on the ladder in these end of season rounds. The Greater Glasgow Giants, who currently hold the coveted top spot on the SARFL Ladder, will take on the Edinburgh Bloods this weekend in Edinburgh.

It’s set to be a top of the table clash as the Edinburgh Bloods have recently moved into the second place position on the ladder, with these two teams looking like a likely matchup for the grand finals in August.

The last time the two teams came head to head, there was a mere 7-point difference when the final whistle blew. The Greater Glasgow Giants managed to continue their unbeaten season run by taking away the win with a final score of 92-85.

The Giants have won all four of their matches this season, and another win this weekend will guarantee them a spot in this year’s Grand Final.

Ahead of this weekend’s game against the Bloods, the Giants’ Coach, Ross Thomson, expects just as tough a game as the last clash against Edinburgh. “It’s always a hard game going to Edinburgh but we’ll bring a strong squad and a good support. We’ve a couple of outs and ins from the last game but I believe we’ve a squad capable of taking a crucial win back to Glasgow. First year ruckman Scott Cochrane is a key return for us, he missed the first Edinburgh game and will be raring to go this weekend”.

With a strong Edinburgh side taking them on, it’s sure to be tough contest between these two well matched teams.
